Feeding Greene GRANTS
REC POWER OF CHANGE
It's through the generosity of Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) member-owners who round-up their electric bills through the Power of Change Program that the CARE Charity can award grants to non-profit charities like Feeding Greene. We were granted $4,000 to offer holiday meats and eggs to our clients in 2024! For more information or to contribute to The Power of Change please visit www.thepowerofchange.org.
TWICE IS NICE
We are also thrilled to share that the Twice Is Nice Foundation has generously donated $15,000 to support Feeding Greene’s senior clients! This is the third year in a row that this foundation has supported our community. This incredible contribution will help us ensure that vulnerable seniors in our community have access to nutritious food and essential resources.
With their support, we can continue to meet the unique needs of our senior population, many of whom face challenges such as fixed incomes and limited mobility. Thanks to the Twice Is Nice Foundation, we’re able to provide greater stability and nourishment for our seniors, making a meaningful difference in their lives.
We are deeply grateful for their partnership in our mission to make sure no one goes to bed hungry in our community. Twice is Nice is an upscale second hand boutique in Charlottesville that donates its profits to other organizations that support seniors in the community. FOOD LION FEEDS
Feeding Greene has received $3,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. The “Nourishing Our Neighbors” grant supports community feeding partners as they tackle food insecurity and promote healthier lifestyles through nutritional education initiatives.
“These funds will be used to support our Backpack Program,” said Rhonda Oliver, spokesperson for Feeding Greene, Inc., the food pantry of Greene County. “We collaborate with all our local schools in Greene County to provide food to children at risk of food insecurity each week through the school year. This program provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner options to cover the weekend. We also provide holiday and summer boxes for the times of year the children are out of school.”
The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $19.6 million in grants.
WALMART FOUNDATION SPARK GOOD GRANT
The Walmart Spark Good Grant plays a vital role in supporting Feeding Greene by providing essential funding to help combat food insecurity. As a community-driven initiative, Spark Good allows Walmart to reinvest in local nonprofits, ensuring organizations like Feeding Greene have the resources needed to serve families in need.
With this $5,000 grant, Feeding Greene can purchase fresh and nutritious food, including protein, dairy, and pantry staples, to distribute to the 900 families it serves each month. The funding also helps sustain critical programs, such as holiday meal distributions, emergency food assistance, and operational support to keep the pantry running efficiently.
